The other morning at work me and three other waitresses sat at the bar drinking coffee and waiting for the first of the guests to arrive for the day. E. mentioned that she wasn’t wearing matching socks. She pulled up her slacks to reveal two different white cuffed socks.
At just about the same time, the other two girls lifted the hems of their pants and said, “Me, too.” L. was wearing one gray athletic sock beside a simliar white sock. K. won by revelaing a thin, printed dress sock paired with a white, thick slouch sock. I’m seriously not sure how she could handle the one-thin, one-thick sock thing, but I’ll bet it involved oversleeping due to the previous evening’s wine consumption.
Earlier that morning I’d fretted while rummaging through my sock drawer. I’d finally found a matching pair, although it made me about three minutes late. There was a hole in the heel and they were too small.

I NEVER wear matching socks, but mine is due to the lack of clothes washing that I do ;)
I have one sock. Or, to be more specific, one kind of sock.* Then when they come out of the dryer, they go in the hamper, every morning I blindly reach in and pull out two socks. Lo and behold, they always match.
Not very fashionable, but think of all of that time I save.
*Okay. Two styles. White and Black.
timmorgan, I’ve heard of that trick, and it sounds awesome. But I never buy socks. My mom gives me a pack evey single year for my birthday and for xmas. I need to throw them all away and start over, but c’mon! My mom *gave* me these. I can’t just throw them away.
Also, I don’t give a shit about my socks and they never really match anyway.
Footed PJ’s, Britt. Put those purple footed PJ’s on under whatever you intend to wear, and boom, no sock dilemma.
OH, the horror stories I’m reading here. Ppl not giving a shit about their socks. I am appalled.

Unmatched socks would irk to me no end. I can’t stand holes in my socks either, if those holes happen to be in the heels and I can feel the cold floor as I walk.
If they go in the trash, then I will be forced to buy new pairs when I go to the store…otherwise there will be nothing to cover my feet in the cold, cold, winter… :)
