I just ran one mile and a half. A MILE AND A HALF. Not without stopping some, mind you, but my short, stumpy legs carried my fleshy, pear-shaped body over 7,900 feet.
I know this might not be a big deal to most of you out there, who probably run marathons or some shit, but I feel like the biggest winner in the world right now.
I would just like to say: go me.

get it girlfriend. I’m really proud of you.
from someone who does run marathon or some shit, i just want to say WAY TO GO.
you can’t run 26.2 miles without first running 1.5.
I cycle for fitness but I run just enough so that if the need arises I can outrun a cop (assuming I can’t make a getaway on my bike). I’m the guy on the track running serpentine. Crazy? Like a fox, a fox who doesn’t want to get shot in the back. I’m a law-abiding guy but you never know. I can’t think of another reason for running but I don’t claim to know everything.
Hey that’s awesome! Add a house a day and you’ll be running 5 miles without stopping in no time. Keep it up. Don’t let that ass get its swell on no mo!
I’m disabled with spina bifida, and usae crutches to ambulate. As a kid, around age 13-16 or so, I was part of a traveling wheelchair athletics (track and field) team. I won some, and lost some. I did the shorter stuff, like 100m, 200m, 400m and a few field throws
. In the interim, I started doing 5k road races
That was always fun, but I either lost by 10 minutes,
or I’d be the only entrant in the wheelchair division. I do remember my first road race, and feeling like i’d never survive it, and indeed,
I never really took it seriously, but it was a fun hobby, and it got me somewhat fit. As a disabled person, I can’t imagine having use of my legs. If I did, I can’t explain it, but I’d be afraid of running…and maybe blowing out a knee or something. I watch these ablebodied
marathon runners, and think that it must be murder on the knees.
But hey, it get’s them fit, and you, Brit, are all the fitter for doing what you did. Good on you. *high five*
only sluts run.
HOW ARE YOUR TWO BLACK EYES DOING BOUNCY
I am in awe and am sending lots of encouragement your way. That is a huge accomplishment. Congratulations!

YAY! I’m proud. I need motivation to do that myself.
Go you! I couldn’t do it. :)
Heh. I used to be able to do 2 miles, but…. raaah, curse this fallen-arch-bent-footbone!
Thank you, by the way.
I think i need to get wasted tonight, too. The day i lost my job i bought a bunch of beer, and for some reason it’s still SITTING THERE. Mocking me.
-Kerry victory toast!-
Good on ya! My physical therapist just cleared me to run again, and I’m starting the couch to 5k thing. Now, I just need to find the willingness to run after a 12 hour work day…
Running helps me relax. I relaxed my way intp running 3 miles in 21:04 this morning. Best time in a year.
But just take your time and relax. And stretch…
this was the super inspiring blog post of the year in that it super inspired me to set that 1.5 at the gym I never go to and finish it.
Thanks Brit.
