Aww, the Crows’ second album wasn’t… that bad.
The only one of those that made me gasp was Yes. Sure, their classic stuff was pretty wonky, but their recent stuff is DEEEEE-VINE. When they all turned 50, they started to really rock out, yo.
^__^
How can you dislike Mr. Bungle’s California? There’s so much stuff going on in that album.
Amen to all these choices. Though Mike Patton has done a lot of good aside from Mr.Bungle.
Also: Sending positve thoughts to your pop. Been there, done that.
When I was in Cleveland over Thanksgiving, I watched the Macy’s with my grandparents, who are very sheltered, vanilla people. It was embarassing seeing the Barenaked Ladies perform. Back in their childhood, Macy’s was wholesome fun, and its promoters are still trying to portray that somewhat, but it’s hard to do when some Spongebobesque float is followed by barenaked anything.
sorry to hear about your dad, he might be better off after its all over.
yeah, i used to be in the camp of hating green day. seriously abhorring green day. then came american idiot and i was introduced to jesus of suburbia and holiday, aka PURE PUNK BRILLIANCE. i mean, sure, their punk definitely has a pop slant, but like i said: PURE PUNK BRILLIANCE.
Aw c’mon Brit…Red Hot Chili Peppers!! How could you go wrong with lyrics like “Theres a devil in my dick and some demons in my semen…”? And anyways, I think Universally speaking is a goddamn beautiful song. Also Green Day’s Kerplunk is a great album. So young, but so heartfelt. All the other bands you named, right-o!
Excellent choices. That’s one of those lists that could never end.
you hate mr. bungle? and to think that i was going to start stalking you.
you disgust me.
p.s. love you.
my opinion (like anyone cares) in parentheses
* Rush (you have to be a dude to be into rush(i am))
* Barenaked Ladies (obnoxious fat white guys))
* Mr. Bungle (who?)
* Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers (great first album but overplayed)
* Yes ( obnoxious british white guys, suck the fun out of rock)
* Korn (or any variation thereof) (just noise)
* Matchbox 20 (whimpy punk)
* Counting Crows (one good song)
* Collective Soul (collectively blows)
* Bright Eyes (again who?)
* Liz Phair (big baby chick who needs to be famous)
* Guns N Roses (five good songs)
* Red Hot Chili Peppers (annoyingly hip)
* Green Day (punk 20 years after the movement was hot)
How can you hate Rush? Neal Pert is one of the best drummers EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a chick and I like Rush
My unsolicited opinions:
I’m a dude, and I can tell you for a fact that Rush sucks. Just because Neil Peart has a lot of drums does not make him a good drummer.
Mr Bungle was good for about half of one album: Disco Volante. Otherwise, just listen to Secret Chiefs Three.
You can’t fuck with Yes on Fragile or Close to the Edge. They are unfuckwithable.
Liz Phair’s first album is great, but she went straight to shit after that.
Red Hot Chili Peppers would be good if they’d kick Anthony K out of the band.
Tom Petty’s first three albums (or so) are just fine.
Everything else, you are exactly right. Well, actually you are right about all of them when you say that you hate them. You’re right! More coffee!
I’m really pleased to see none of the bands I like on that list :p
