The boyfriend made dinner! He pureed turnips, carrots, new potatoes, shallots and leeks in with vegetable stock using the immersion blender I got him for Christmas. Creamy, yummy–no dairy. He also did up that kale with sesame oil and toasted sesame seeds. Along side it is some fresh rosemary and olive oil bread he brought home from the bakery.
He pretty much rocks.

That blender is crazy. It sucks itself down towards the bottom of the pot, and it was so terribly loud. The whole oven was vibrating. I want to blend up all types of things now.
Ummm, your boyfriend rocks. I think I’d drop dead from surprise if I came home and found dinner like that ready for me.
BTW, I just found LOA Trading Goods (or something like that anyway) at 1016 8th Ave S today. I walked out of there with 2 huge bags filled with goodies all for $27. I am so excited about all of the fun new food I got (yuba, agar agar, rice vermicelli, spring roll wrappers, toasted sesame oil, all kinds of other sauces and condiments, etc) and it was so cheap compared to the grocery or to Wild Oats.
