Your Own Bravery

There are many pro-war, chickenhawk bloggers out there who actually have the nerve to criticize the 15 British soldiers who were taken captive by Iranian forces as being "weak" and "spineless" and "giving up." Yep, you read that right. Neo-con warmongers of optimum age and health to enlist, though they have not (and will not), are giving brave English servicemen shit for "surrendering" in the face of "evil."

That is what we call "fucked up," to say the least.

So were they supposed to resist and likely die? Is that the opposite of “spineless” and “weak”?

To use your language from NIT, that should be:

…pro-war, chicken crap bloggers out there…

How does Bush treat his captives in Guantanamo? Does he give them gifts and suits like Iran did for the Brits.

#4 newscoma on 04.08.07 at 12:47 pm

I have friends who have been to Iraq.
It’s one of many reasons I’m against the war because of what they have told me.
I write about this a lot.
I had to tell one of my employees her cousin, who she lived with for a long time, that he was dead.
I never want to do that again.
Then I had to deal with Westboro Baptist Church when he was being buried.
I’m with you sister, preach on.

#5 Jim on 04.08.07 at 3:56 pm

Brittney, I’m with you. What sense would it have made, what could possibly have been accomplished if those sailors and marines had resisted? There would be 15 more body bags to report on the evening news. I saw some talking head calling them “cowards” and saying they were a disgrace to the uniform.

If you ask me it took more courage to surrender and come home to be criticized for deciding to live rather than die needlessly.

#6 Yiddish Steel on 04.08.07 at 6:12 pm

Pussies. Every one of them. They shamed the thousands of Royal Marines and Navy Corpsmen that gave their lives for the Union Jack and all the freedom and liberty that 3 generations have enjoyed since extinguishing the original Nazi Facists. Now, we see what years of pandering, dhimmitude, and complacency have accomplished. THE WHITE FLAG DISEASE. These Limeys will relish in all the celebrity that dishonor will vet them while the once-great British Empire succumbs to the egress of Islamo-Facism.

#7 brittney on 04.08.07 at 6:33 pm

Look, I wasn’t lying.

#8 Jordan Brock on 04.08.07 at 7:18 pm

I’m reading “Yiddish Steel’s” post and saying to myself “It’s got to be satire, doesn’t it? Please let it be satire.”

I can’t believe that anyone would want other people to value the honour of their uniform over their own lives, in a situation where no benefit could be gained from their deaths. Sure, there might be an instance where a “noble sacrifice” saves the lives of others, but in the middle of the sea, with no tactical benefit? Surely they jest?

#9 SemiPundit on 04.09.07 at 12:59 pm

Brittney, I notice that you very kindly have left in place a comment by one of the regulars from 6MB. It is to your credit that you will give those guys an opportunity to make a case why their service is not required, nor is that of others who might respond to their call. Any mention at their place is promptly deleted. I can’t help but picture in my mind an image of a raucous, blustering he-man who is promptly reduced in potency by a quick dip in an icy pool.

Why also, I might ask, do we not hear of any calls for service from the President or the Vice-President, or from Hannity, Limbaugh, Ingraham, or the cadre of entertainers who can stir wild emotion and remembrance of nine-eleven in only two minutes and fifty-seven seconds of song?

No one has yet been able to successfully defend that argument. Well, maybe Jonah Goldberg; his mom won’t let him sign up.

#10 Billy on 04.09.07 at 2:46 pm

Semi Pundit…WRONG.

Come on over to 6MB and make the same argument. I guarantee you will NOT be deleted. In fact, you might become a celebrated dunce.

The “why-don’t-you-serve?” argument is ridiculous…but of course it’s all you have. I can attest that Yiddish (too old) would not qualify for the military, but his support of them is unquestioned.

Do you dipwads care about Darfur? World Hunger? The environment? OK, what have you actually DONE about those things?

Did you go to Katrina and help out, or did you just complain about how Bush messed things up?

I DID go to Katrina to do whatever I could. Should I now say that you have no right to be concerned about the people there because you weren’t willing (or perhaps able)to go to help? Of course not…that would be ridiculous.

Sean Hannity has raised more than a million dollars for the families of our troops. What have you done?

Do you claim to “support the troops” but you don’t support their mission?

That would be like claiming to support Brittney…but not her brainless musings.

So Semi-Pundit…if you want to back that smak up…come on over. But I won’t argue with you here. The only reason I came down to the kindergarten playground is to steal your tetherball. Going back to where the big boys play now.

#11 brittney on 04.09.07 at 3:11 pm

SemiPundit, you aren’t the only one to complain about being deleted at 6MB. I more than believe it. In fact, this comment was left recently from someone with the same experience:

“You are a chicken shit for not publishing my answer. Create a BLOG and then censor free speech. You’re a few meats short of a buffet. I guess it’s easier just to deal with sycophants. Here it is again if you have the balls…”

#12 Smantix on 04.09.07 at 8:03 pm

A) This is too rich coming from the same person who deleted my non-profane comment in the thread where you were praising Sean Braisted calling conservatives “Iranians”.

B) Let’s put the comment caught in the Akismet spam filter in context, shall we? I know that’s difficult for such an established cherry picker. Although I would for once demand that Brittany repudiate that anyone other than the 19 hijackers were responsible for flying planes into the World Trade Center. Because I think you’re a closet Truther.

“Schizo Steve”, as we call him, was picking up Air America on the fillings in his teeth when he decided to defecate this musing:

You are a chicken shit for not publishing my answer. Create a BLOG and
then censor free speech. You’re a few meats short of a buffet. I
guess
it’s easier just to deal with sycophants. Here it is again if you
have the
balls;

Still no answers? I’ll help you with one;

I can’t
drive through an intersection without being recorded. The hub of our

If you can
find
better, I’d like to see it.

Take out a dollar and see who issued it. The Federal Reserve Bank is no
more a government entity than Federal Express. This means it is in

They went to extremes to
organize it. Do you not think they would go to extremes to keep it?

As far as the Penn and Teller bullshit, they need to acknowledge their
own. He starts by saying 49% of New Yorkers believe the government had
something to do with 911. Do you not think New Yorkers would be a
pretty
good authority on New York? He goes on to lump these in folks in with
those who believe we didn’t land on the moon. That’s magic. That
psycho
babbling special fat chick who looks like Penn’s sister sure has some
interesting UFO views among others.
http://people.hws.edu/dean/jodi_cv.html
Penn and Teller depend on a gullible audience. All magic does. At this
point in its history – America is a gullible audience.

Get all that? The Federal Reserve, with logistical support from the Daytime Vampires in cooperation with a grant from the Heritage Foundation and Major League Baseball attacked the World Trade Center.

Do what you do with every other semi-employed Truther nutbar with the same opinion. Give him $100 bucks and let him host on your site this weekend. Although he may be a little wishy-washy on giving you his Social Security Number. You might want to reimburse with him some gift certificates to Olive Garden or something.

#13 brittney on 04.09.07 at 8:13 pm

I didn’t delete your comment. It must have gotten caught in the spam filter. Did you see the comment appear, then disappear?

#14 brittney on 04.09.07 at 8:17 pm

Anybody know what the hell a Truther is? I think you should be able to find it in the book that has definitions for “Outter Leftardia” and “dhimmicrats.”

P.S. You are the only person too pussy to not want to guest blog due to fear of being found out. My offer still stands, but I’m sure you’re too chickenshit to gimme your social security number and name. I promise not to stalk you. :)

#15 Smantix on 04.09.07 at 8:22 pm

So was the World Trade Center attacked by 19 Middle Eastern hijackers or not?

It’s a simple question. Yes or no will do.

#16 brittney on 04.09.07 at 8:24 pm

Sorry, I’m off the clock. Check back tomorrow.

#17 Smantix on 04.09.07 at 8:34 pm

A Truther is pretty simple. They believe the 19 Islamic-fundamentalist Hijackers didn’t attack the WTC. Rather, a devious cabal of assassins from the Federal Reserve, Halliburton, and the CATO Institute plotted explosives throughout all the buildings and to kill 50,000 Americans so they could start a $1 Trillion war to secure $23 Billion dollars worth of oil.

Let’s see. You tried to get Nashville Attorney fired by posting his work IP address for disagreeing with you on the ever-important issue of Mammy-Jars being sold at a truckstop. Forgive me if I doubt your respect for privacy.

Hrm…think I’ll still pass though. If I ever chose to - I would do it for free. I’ve been on hiatus for the last 6 months but if that’s a standing offer, I will consider it.

#18 brittney on 04.09.07 at 8:38 pm

Absolutely. Free’s even better. I feel like if I can get you in the guest blogging seat it will be a coup for me.

#19 Smantix on 04.09.07 at 8:50 pm

we are here about the president’s missing tetherball

#21 SemiPundit on 04.10.07 at 3:49 pm

On the matter of service, I am simply saying that I have not yet heard a sound reason why a qualified person who supports our military policy should hold back while others serve multiple tours of duty. Of course, there can be any number of good reasons, such as a unique skill that is more needed at home.

I do not, however, think that the standard argument is valid, that one need not engage in order to support. For example, “I do not need to be a fireman to support good fire protection”, or “I believe in law and order, but see no need to join the police force”. I support equal rights for women, but do not feel compelled to have a sex-change operation. Such arguments have little weight even among those who espouse them.

The question is this: What would one say about his or her decision not to serve when addressing an assemblage of families of soldiers who finally came up snake eyes on their third or fourth tour? What would one say to a soldier who will spend the rest of his life in a back bedroom, missing arms and legs, fed through a feeding tube, and washed and diapered every few hours?

Nothing personal, guys, but your leaders have put you square into the spotlight and by their decisions have laid a burden on you that you should not have to carry. Someday, one of you may seek office and find yourself in a debate with a Max Cleland who, as I write this, is on his way home.

#22 The Internet on 04.10.07 at 6:58 pm

#24 Billy on 04.10.07 at 9:11 pm

Brittney,

For the record (and I think Smantix and Yiddish will agree), I disavow what “7th Meat” said. That was out of line.

We might think you are vacuous, but nobody over there has used that word to describe you.

Whoever you are, 7th Meat, don’t bring that garbage over to 6MB…and Brittney nobody would begrudge you deleting that comment.

#25 The Seventh Meat on 04.10.07 at 9:52 pm

The “C” word, 7th. If I know you from 6mb, shoot me an email.

But the “C” word was unnecessary…especially on Brittney’s own site.

#29 The Seventh Meat on 04.10.07 at 10:20 pm

BY UNNECESSARY C WORD DO YOU MEAN CABIN BILLY BECAUSE I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT FLOPPY TITTED CUNT HAD A WARM PLACE TO SLEEP

BILLY DO YOU HAVE AN OPINION ON HER TITS

#31 Katherine Coble on 04.10.07 at 10:40 pm

Seventh Meat, you are charming to the last. I’m sure your friends and neighbours are pleased to know you.

I’m not quite sure what the roots of Smantix’ grudge match with the NiT crowd are exactly, but I know he’s got it up against us. Which is his prerogative.

Why you feel that entitles you to act like a cruel and baseless jerk, though, is beyond me.

#32 The Seventh Meat on 04.10.07 at 10:56 pm

KATHERINE DO YOU HAVE AN OPINION ON HER TITS

#33 Katherine Coble on 04.10.07 at 11:47 pm

You mean, like have I printed up a t-shirt with a slogan for her to wear?

If only I could get Brittney to wear a shirt that has:

THE COMMON MAN SHOULD OWN TANKS

right across the bust I’d be happy.

But no, as yet I have not put an opinion on her chest.

Oh, I’m sorry. I guess I misunderstood your question.

I thought you meant for this comment space to degenerate into unchecked stupidity. I was just playing along.

#37 SemiPundit on 04.11.07 at 11:32 am

Ms. Coble, this is how Seventh Meat avoids my question. The other guys at least make an attempt to address the issue, but this guy, frightened and emasculated, seeks other means, namely blathering on about things he only wishes he could have.

Don’t look for him in Baghdad or in the wilds of Afghanistan, for he will be found cowering in a corner of the arcade at the mall, or driving around neighborhoods on Saturday mornings with a van and a puppy.

#38 The Seventh Meat on 04.11.07 at 10:18 pm
