I can’t even go there anymore. I can’t look, it’s one of the slowest, bloodiest deaths I’ve ever been privy to. It hurts to look. I finally did it. I unsubscribed.
I shouldn’t be sad about that, but I am.
EDITED TO ADD: This bit from Newscoma is a good way to sum up my feelings:
What I know I experienced and that I think others did was grief.
Grief that NiT will never be what it was when folks got involved. Grief that something beloved (or in some cases with certain bloggers let’s just say not beloved) was going to be different. Grief that something that was so transparent and filled with vitality that at times it was almost too raw was going to be different. Grief has many faces, and it’s not about death, it’s about loss.
LAST UPDATE, I SWEAR: Will you local bloggers be adding yourselves to the roll of the NewNashvilleIsTalking? (cue old man voice: Back in my day, we scoured the web and wrangled blog URLs by ourselves up a hill both ways. And we liked it!)

Have you archived the content from there? If not, do you want some help doing so? I would imagine that would be something you would like to have.
Jackson, that is a great idea for Brittney…
I’m reading so many posts like this lately…it truly has become uninteresting and irrelevant.
The new and exciting direction for NIT?
“I’m not really a blogger, and I don’t read blogs all that much”
What took you so long?
Makes me in favor of euthabloganasia.
I’ve not unsubscribed yet. came close. holding out some sort of hope.
In other news, Bush is an evil rethuglican who puts babies on spikes. That’s what NIT tells me, anyway.

Hard to argue with that, though.
.
It gets better. I notice it’s not on the front page anymore.
NiT is like a bloody stump of an arm caught under a boulder and you know you need to cut it loose with a pen knife or else you’ll die.
Okay, maybe not. But I winced just the same.
I signed up. I don’t know if they’ll actually include it, though. Seeing as I’m not a lingerie model and all….
BTW, props to SayUncle for the Eddie Izzard reference.
Why should local bloggers sign up when they don’t even know what they are signing up for. Is this really going to be a completely automated site ala NashvillesNews.net?
Good question, Jaxn.
I’ve spent a few hours every morning, unpaid of course, reading local blogs and local news, and providing links to local bloggers on NiT. Yea, so I’ve posted a lot of political stuff too but often provided links to local bloggers who’ve posted on those stories. SBut hey, some of those evil political posts have generated a helluva lot of comments and discussion! Isn’t that what its all about?
You did a great job Brit and we all miss ya but I am getting tired of wadeing through the ‘death of NiT shit’ I read out there and how WIlliam is killing NiT. I have NO stake in the future of NiT, Christian likes what I’m posting, so if you don’t like what I post …F.O.
Why do you blog? I blog about stuff I’m passionate about. Sorry. I’m not being paid enough (zero) to be an effective ‘group leader’ here.
I find it interesting that the same people whom I’ve posted links to their blogs are complaining that I don’t post links to local blogs.
You were right about the shit getting deep.
Anyway, hope to meet some of you in person sometime.
Likewise. I love tea, and you look to have the hook-up!
This post isn’t about anyone in specific. I promise.
I just want to say, like so many other new bloggers, not part of ‘the clique’ … you provided many links at NiT to a new blog called “Bill’s TN Paradise.” On behalf of me and many, a big thanks n’ hugs.
I remember your dude from the Rose, I’m sure he’d remember me. Yea, lets all have tea sometime.
In every post he’s done, today’s new blogger has referred to: himself, his adventures, his own blog, and/or his own business ventures.
Plus, any blogger worth his RSS would have had a hey-day making fun of Mr. McDouche in the HUSTLER jacket. Holy crap, did you see that? Yeah, Lot7 was insane!
Well, okay, then!
(an’ here I thought I was getting talked about, if not getting linked, anyway… *pout*)

Oh! And!
I’ll bet you a dollar that KatCo ads another non-TN wingnut to the aggregator before she posts a photo of either of my cats.
Unless of course she reads this, and just to be contrary, does it to spite me.
Not that it matters — I had intended to buy you some sangria at the Saucer, but got all “duh” there towards the end, and forgot.
.
JP - Believe me, we know where to go for your cat photos. :)
I’m curious, but not curious enough to sign up for something with no explanation. I have an inkling that it suggests that the faceless bot rumors are true, but that’s just my guess. I don’t tend to sign up for things that don’t bother to explain themselves.
William, and I do mean this to be constructive criticism, not bashing - one thing Brittney did well was to point to things that she wasn’t necessarily passionate about, but that other folks were talking about and readers might find interesting, rather than treating it as a personal blog. I think the content expectations are somewhat different for the two.
*one thing Brittney did well was to point to things that she wasn’t necessarily passionate about*
Thanks for noticing! That shit got really tedious, but it was my job, so I did it. For William it is not his job, however.

[taps nose]
And to think: Just about anyone could’ve jumped in and done their part, other than whining about it all across the local blogohood.
.
I looked at NiT. Sounds like he’s finished.

Whining? I *did* something about it. BTW, look for a post about your cats, coming soon, Jeffraham.
William and JP,
During your stay at NiT it was convenient to get all my Bush/Hitler in one place. Before I had to go to Jesus General, Fire Dog Lake, and the Daily Kos to get that much concentrated Bush/Hitler in one day.
The “comments and discussion” that William bragged about was actually people saying “Make it stop”.
The piece de resistance was when William signs off with “Love and Peace to All”.
Perfect.
Whining? I *did* something about it.
You done good, too, but I wasn’t talking about you (and you probably knew that). :) I was referring to whiners like Number 9, serr8ed, et al. You know, those who think reporting the facts (which, of course, have a well-known liberal bias) is tantamount to treason… yet were somehow unable to refute William’s points, nor willing to get their hands dirty by asking WKRN for login credentials.
BTW, look for a post about your cats, coming soon, Jeffraham.
You put Curly up! Yay!
.
What can I say, I heart Curly. :D

At 17lbs., he’s a whole lot to love!
.
Hell JP,
he’s bigger than Mabel.
:)
Say Uncle Number 9, as I’ve said at NiT, and I think everyone will concur…
You weren’t able to refute any of williams posts for 2 reasons, 1) they were always linked to documented facts, and 2) you can’t smell shit when you see it … because you’ve had your nose up George Bush’s asshole for way too long!
he’s bigger than Mabel.
He’s a beast. It’s hilarious to see L.E. (who is at least 7lbs. lighter) make him cry.
.
“Love and Peace to All”, Pam.

Three wingers. Man, that’s upsetting.
Who said this?
“This is like a television. If you don’t like what is on turn it off. You’re not the boss of anyone here.”
If you wanna cheat…
.
“Love and Peace to All”, JP.

Yes, I remember: William said that. Not me.

Apples and anvils JP. The context is very different.
But in regard to Nit, almost everyone has turned it off.

You say it is, but it’s not, at all. The shoe is on the other foot, is all.
But in regard to Nit, almost everyone has turned it off.
They still have us, though, eh? Good times.

It is so disheartening to read so many people from one place doing so well at not getting along.
“Can’t we just get along?” - Rodney King after he got Michael Vicked.
[…] rags on me, Birdwhistell, NiT and WKRN. Our beloved Brittney can’t bear to watch. Salem’s lots reflects on why we blog, MCB, NiT, and the so called […]
“Can’t we just get along?” - Rodney King after he got Michael Vicked.
That’s just wrong on about 43 levels.

Wrong, but so very ESPNish, wouldn’t you say?
Thanks for noticing! That shit got really tedious, but it was my job, so I did it. For William it is not his job, however.
The weekend I guest blogged, even tho I knew I could have done just a smattering of posts, I threw myself into it full time and put in more than just an 8-hour day.
I have rarely been so exhausted (mentally and physically) as I was after that weekend. If I had been the one to do what Coble did taking on the weekday duties for weeks, I don’t know if I would have survived.
My hat will always remain off to both of you - anyone who says that job at NIT was easy (done the way it was supposed to be done to cover what the Nashville blogosphere is talking about, as opposed to some of lately) has NO idea just how f’ing hard and tiresome it could be. I did my two days and it was all right, but I was suddenly keenly aware of what it would have been like for that to have been my full-time job. I thought I understood it before then but even I had no idea how hard it was.
Blogging is an inherently self-absorbed exercise, because they’re written with the assumption someone else in the world cares about what you have to say. That’s why it’s online rather than in a journal or a photo album. The amount of vanity and the wit used to express it are the only things that differ from blog to blog. What’s the point in sharing your writing about your dead grandma or Lindsay Lohan if you can’t be funny? There’s not one, and it’s fucking boring.
PS - I hate the word ‘blog,’ it sounds like pet VD.
