I’m at BarCamp Nashville. I am lucky to have found a seat next to my Aunt B., who made me laugh in under 5 minutes. I’m hot. I came late and had to park FIVE WHOLE BLOCKS AWAY. Woe is me, the misery of urban life.* It’s only 91 out today, so it could have been 15 degrees worse. I’m wondering where I can get something to drink.
Bryce Wells is speaking about “Audio and Video Podcasting: Lessons for Traditional Publishers.” He’s got some pertinent information for business types who might want to dive into this medium, but really don’t know how to get started.
The guy up now is here all the way from Montreal. His name is Mitch Joel. He is slick. He has jokes. About iPhones. And a video from AOL. He’s here to talk about marketing:”Six Pixels of Separation: The New World of New Marketing.” He’s actually pretty interesting. He’s got multimedia–a 9 minute documentary about the power of real people on YouTube. Sounds trite, but it was actually really engaging. He’s wowing people now with percentags–growth of YouTube and Facebook.
It’s warm in here. Could be because I have this blazing hot MacBook on my lap. It’s also dark in here. It’s all concert-y with red and orange lights. Chairs are lined up in rows taking up a good portion of the floor space. There is a bartender manning the ba, but no one’s drinking yet. It’s a long day, pacing it is probably a good idea.
More later.
*Please know I am kidding.
UPDATE #1: Whoa man, it’s hot in here. My knees are sweating, and my knees do not sweat usually.
