I watched about 15 minutes of the Miss Teen USA pageant the other day, and was privy to one of the most spectacularly dumb answers ever given in a televised pageant:
The best part about this clip is that I didn’t realize just how dumb it was until I heard the question this morning. I must have been out of the room Friday night when Miss South Carolina was asked the question that led to this unbelievable response, so it is even more hilarious to me now knowing what prompted that reply. People ask me sometimes, “Why do you watch that shit?” This. This is why.

holy. god. i am speechless. another point for the south. no wonder people make fun of us. i don’t know if i feel smarter or dumber after watching that.
The chick from North Carolina was almost as stupid.
Holy shit. Holy HOLY shit.
How hard is it to say, “Because our educational system doesn’t give a damn about subjects like geography”?
My God, that was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen! But I guess it’s OK for her to be that stupid because she’s blond and hot, right?
Brittney, Thank God you watch this crap so I don’t have to and I can sit and mock later with your sweet guidance.
W.T.F!!
Ironic: a simple response of “I don’t know”, would have been more intelligent.
The more I think about it….I realize that was a dumb answer. But wasn’t that kind of a dumb question too?
[…] Brittney on some things that define reason. […]
All I have to say is –wow.
I’m happy letting other people find the dumb-sounding clips and posting them, so I don’t have to watch the entire thing myself. :)
Hee hee! I think it’s because we in South Africa don’t have as good an education as we in the United States and in some of these other places or something. HA!
Oh. My. God.
Oh yes, I have to link this.
You can tell she’s been coached to replace “LIKE” with “SUCH AS,” and she’s clinging to the words like (such as?) a life raft.
Alrighty then. This pretty much proves my point over at TN Guerilla Women, where in a conversation about SCHIP someone posted that the Federal gov’t should stay out of education, that it’s a state issue.
Well, if you’re OK with having really DUMB states and really SMART states, maybe. But I think this is one area where it serves the national interest to have national standards, not pockets of ignorance.
Did she win?
My high school best friend and I used to watch a video of Miss Teen USA 1989 (or something) over and over and over again. Such are the amusements of kids who don’t drink or do drugs.
She came in 3rd.
