So, I’m having a birthday/going away party (for myself! at 6 p.m. on Sunday! at La Paz in Green Hills!), and you should have gotten an invitation last Friday. However, I was thinking that I just used my Gmail address book to import contacts into Evite, and what if there is a friend I don’t email! And there are some. There are several lovely ladies from the bistro where I once worked that I would love to invite. Alas, I don’t know their email addresses.
Anyway, all that was to say that if you want to come to my birthday/going away party, and you didn’t get an invitation, email me.

Today Shauna and Miss Pea took me out for lunch. It was such fun. Miss Pea was feeling a little fussy (”Hold me, Mama,” followed immediately by, “Put me in the chair, Mama.”), but she is still SO GOOD compared to most kids her age that I once waited on. Hardly any whining, not a single cry or tear. She just played with the pepper grinder until her “spaketti” was nicely dusted with black specks.
Her mother is fine company as well.
I will miss friendly lunches with my local blogger friends.

You can malign them as boring minutiae of some housewife’s life, or you can deride them with demeaning terms like “mommy blogger,” but then you read something like this, and you know that - painfully personal minutiae or not - you are in the presence of art.

Glenn Beck is a full fledged idiot: ““I think there is a handful of people who hate America. Unfortunately for them, a lot of them are losing their homes in a forest fire today.”

Pomegranate. Somehow I’d lived my whole life never having eaten one. Now I’m hooked. I have two in my fridge now; I ate one this afternoon. I love the tiny pearls of tangy sweet juice that explode on your tongue and teeth when you chew. The fibrous little beads make it a satisfying snack. I’m slightly in love. I wish they weren’t so expensive and were easier to de-seed. Otherwise, damn near perfect food.
