Brock at SFist is reporting that NPR reported that “all the big cats at SF Zoo will most likely be sent to a sanctuary of sorts and that the zoo director, Manuel Mollinedo, has been asked to step down.” This is the only instance of this news that I can find on the internets, even after thoroughly searching NPR.org. Several searches at Google News turns up nothing in the way of corroboration. I’m very curious to learn if this report is true. Anything a reader might know about these reports would be greatly appreciated. Use the comments section to leave a note.

I’ve searched all the appropriate terms in the internal messages that come to NPR member stations. There’s nothing in any of the program rundowns about this. I can tell you from experience that a lot of people fail to distinguish between National Public Radio, Public Radio International, American Public Media, and their member stations… it’s just all NPR to listeners. If this was mentioned in a local program or newscast on KQED, it wouldn’t show up in any NPR documentation or on the NPR website until a national show picked up the story.
:(
Thanks for looking, Scott.
